CIPATAT, West Bandung Regency – The Nyalindung Village Government, located in Cipatat District, West Bandung Regency, once again organized a community blood donation drive in collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of West Bandung Regency on Wednesday (February 11, 2026). The activity, held as part of a routine quarterly program, reflects the village’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility and humanitarian support.
The event successfully attracted between 80 to over 100 residents, showing strong enthusiasm from the local community. Participants included village officials, youth organization members (Karang Taruna), PKK women’s group members, and residents from various backgrounds. Since early morning, villagers gathered at the designated location to take part in the life-saving initiative.

The activity was a routine blood donation drive facilitated by PMI West Bandung Regency. In addition to blood collection, PMI medical personnel conducted preliminary health screenings for all prospective donors. These examinations included blood pressure checks, hemoglobin (HB) level testing, and brief health consultations to ensure donors met the required standards.
The program was not only a humanitarian effort but also served as a health education platform. Residents received information about the importance of maintaining good health, the benefits of regular blood donation, and how their contributions directly help patients in need.

The event was organized by the Nyalindung Village Government in partnership with PMI West Bandung Regency (KBB). The primary participants were residents of Nyalindung Village, supported by village officials, community leaders, and volunteers.
Head of Nyalindung Village, Supriatna, emphasized that the activity reflects the spirit of unity and mutual cooperation within the community.

We help one another for the common good. A single drop of blood can be crucial for our brothers and sisters who are ill and in need of transfusions. We hope this activity continues and more residents become aware of the importance of blood donation,” said Supriatna.
PMI officers and trained medical staff were present throughout the event to ensure safety, professionalism, and adherence to medical standards.
When and Where Did It Take Place?
The blood donation drive was held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, in Nyalindung Village, Cipatat District, West Bandung Regency. The program is conducted every three months as part of the village’s sustainable social agenda.
Why Is Blood Donation Important?
Blood donation plays a crucial role in the healthcare system and offers benefits to both recipients and donors.

1. Saving Lives
Donated blood is essential for patients undergoing surgery, accident victims, mothers experiencing childbirth complications, and individuals suffering from serious conditions such as severe anemia, cancer, and thalassemia.
2. Maintaining Blood Supply Stability
Hospitals require a stable and sufficient blood supply every day. Regular community donation programs help PMI maintain adequate stock levels to respond to emergencies and routine medical needs.
3. Health Benefits for Donors
Donating blood can stimulate the production of new blood cells and support cardiovascular health. Additionally, donors receive free basic health screenings prior to donation.
4. Strengthening Social Solidarity
Blood donation fosters empathy, compassion, and stronger relationships among community members. It reflects the spirit of mutual cooperation (gotong royong), which remains a core value in Indonesian society.

Before donating, participants must undergo a health screening conducted by PMI medical personnel. To qualify, donors must generally:
Be between 17 and 60 years old
Weigh at least 45 kilograms
Be in good physical condition
Once approved, the blood collection process takes approximately 10–15 minutes. After donation, participants are advised to rest briefly and consume snacks and beverages provided by the organizers to help restore energy and maintain stability.

PMI ensures that all equipment used during the process is sterile and that procedures follow national health and safety standards.
A Model of Community Engagement
The consistent implementation of blood donation drives in Nyalindung Village demonstrates the proactive role of local government in supporting humanitarian programs. By maintaining strong collaboration with PMI and encouraging resident participation, the village contributes significantly to public health efforts across West Bandung.
With continued enthusiasm and commitment from the community, the program is expected to expand further, helping to secure a reliable blood supply and strengthening the culture of care and solidarity.
